Welcome to WIS website. The Waltham Islamic Society (WIS) is a multi-cultural, community service, and religious organization that was established in 1999 with the goal of providing Islamic services to the community. WIS is a Non-Profit Tax Exempt Religious Organization.

Renovation/Construction of the newly purchased Masjid in waltham:

Alhamdulilah Waltham Islamic Society has purchased the property on 313 Moody Street for 515k and the closing was on July 11 2012. Jazakallah for all your contributions towards the purchase of this new property.

This property was a Bar / Restaurant ( The New Landing ) and Inshallah will be converted to a mosque.

The task of converting a Restaurant/Bar into Masjid is challenging and inshallah we are expecting to complete within three-four months.

We are requesting our brothers and sisters to help complete the renovation/construction of this Masjid. We are required to build new bathrooms and wadu place for brothers and sisters, extend the covered area also build the basement plus the conversion of bar into Masjid.

Inshallah Allah will reward you with the reward of all the different amals performed in this new masjid as your contribution had made it possible for this new masjid to be established

The total cost of Demolition of the existing Bar and the New Construction for the masjid is $450,000

The place is approximately 4000 sq ft and by code can accommodate 250 people

Alhamdulillah The Waltham Islamic Society is pleased to announce and welcome the honorable Imam Algizawi to be the first Imam, A’alim ”Islamic Scholar” and leader for Waltham Community of Massachusetts ,USA.

Imam Abdel-Hamid Al-Gizawi is an Egyptian Muslim Sunni A’alim (Islamic Scholar) has a good Islamic character, strong integrity, sound knowledge and understanding of Islamic principles of Shar’iah, and has Two Rewayat's ( 2 Licenses ) in reciting and teaching the Holy Qur'an (Hafas and Shubah).

Imam Algizawi who graduated from Al-azher University in Cairo to spread the enlightened central moderate islamic thought, raised in a devout Islamic household. His father was a scholar graduated from Al-Azher University as well. Imam Algizawi attended religious Islamic school starting at age of five in his hometown of Kafrel Dawar in the governorate of El Beihera , Egypt .

Over 18 years of religious education (primary, middle, high school, university and post graduate) he has been a prayer leader since age 14 and a volunteer Imam since his university days, attended Al-Azher University (most respected Islamic University in Egypt and perhaps the World), obtained a post BA degree in Education.

Imam Algizawi in March of 2011 joined the staff of Ahmed Al-Tayeb, ” Sheikh Al-Azher’’ (the current Grand Imam of al-Azher) as an English Interpreter and translator for religious documents. He remained with Sheikh Al Azher until earlier to his coming to America on 07/17/2012.

Imam Algizawi, who is licensed to deliver sermons and lectures in mosques throughout Egypt maintained a busy carrer as a visiting Imam over ten years in El- Beihera and Alexandria. He is married with one daughter. Her name is Gouwireya.

Worth of note , Imam Algizawi participated in many English courses, initiatives, conferences , and interfaith dialogue with the American Embassy in Cairo shortly will be receiving his PhD in comparative religious studies . He specializes in Semantec Religious Studies ( Judaism, Christianity and Islam ) . We hope for the Imam the best.

Actually the Waltham Islamic Society is very proud and fortunate to have a scholar and A’alim like Imam Abdel Hamid Algizawi to be Imam and leader for us.
